David and Elaine Flint’s two sons have lived in an apartment and then a house with the help of Heritage Christian Services. Now the Flints are giving HCS their home in gratitude.

The Flints are making the gift now but retain the right to live in their home for the rest of their lives. The home is in Macedon, New York, about 20 miles from HCS. The Flints get an immediate tax deduction as part of the gift.

The gift is in honor of their two sons, Michael and Kevin, who with the help of HCS moved into a supportive apartment in 2000 and then into their own three-bedroom home in 2012.

“They were so excited and happy on both occasions,” Elaine Flint said. “Heritage Christian has a dedicated staff who genuinely care about all residents and their families and guide them through the process of getting placed in a home.”

David and Elaine both worked at the Mary Cariola Children’s Center, Elaine as a teacher and David in facilities maintenance. They have been married 50 years and have three sons and two grandsons. They now spend the winters in Florida.

The Flints, who are members of the Heritage Christian Legacy Society and the Leadership Circle, have made numerous gifts in the past, including a gift of appreciated stock. The gift of their home is unrestricted so it can be used however HCS sees fit at the time. That shows the trust the Flints have in the agency.

“Heritage Christian is a family of parents, residents, and staff who work tirelessly for the good of people with developmental needs,” the Flints concluded. “We would encourage other parents to give generously in any way they can for this wonderful organization. Put your money where it will do the most good.”
